On April 20th, in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California, the esteemed Olympic Club served as the picturesque backdrop for the fifth annual Golf Invitational, a collaborative endeavor between the Child Mind Institute and SoFi. This impactful occasion drew a distinguished roster of participants, including iconic athletes such as Marcus Allen, Barry Bonds, Royce Clayton, Vince Coleman, Al Joyner, Gary Payton, and Sterling Sharpe, whose presence lent significant gravitas to the event.
The day commenced with an engaging golf tournament, providing attendees with an opportunity for camaraderie and competitive play. As the sun began to set, guests transitioned to an elegant evening reception, culminating in a seated dinner. A highlight of the evening was a spirited live auction, offering an array of exclusive experiences, followed by an awards ceremony celebrating the tournament's top performers. Inspiring speeches were delivered by Dr. Harold S. Koplewicz, President of the Child Mind Institute, and Olympic gold medalist figure skater Brian Boitano, who shared poignant reflections on the immense mental pressures inherent in high-stakes global performances. The event was expertly hosted by Raj Mathai, a 12-time Emmy Award-winning news anchor from NBC Bay Area, who skillfully guided the dinner program and officiated the auction.
A notable announcement during the reception was the Child Mind Institute's expansion, with the opening of a new patient care facility in San Francisco. This new location complements their existing San Mateo clinic, significantly enhancing accessibility to vital mental health services for families residing across the city, Marin County, and the northern East Bay. Dr. Koplewicz emphasized the broader vision, stating, “While we are expanding our presence in California, we recognize that this challenge extends beyond any single location. To adequately address this need, we must engage with children earlier, within their everyday environments: their homes, schools, communities, and increasingly, the digital platforms where they spend considerable time.
